EigenScript

A standalone language with native observer semantics, written as a single zero-dependency C binary. It is the runtime at the center of the lab and the system the rest of the work is designed to stress.

Runtime

A machine that can look back.

EigenScript has a stack-based bytecode VM, NaN-boxed slots, and a JIT using on-stack replacement to drop into native code mid-loop. The runtime is reversible: a trace tape replays a run byte-for-byte, and temporal interrogatives query past state.

ExecutionJIT with OSR hot-loop entry, code cache, W^X, and roughly 25 opcodes emitted natively.
RepresentationNaN-boxed EigsSlot values and a per-chunk inline cache for name lookups.
SemanticsUnified error model: strict types, structural ==, and fatal uncaught errors. LANGUAGE_CONTRACT.md documents the semantic promises.
ObserversOpt-in loop halting automatically stops only loops whose condition is observer-based; temporal interrogatives query recorded state.

Built to be used hard.

LANGUAGE SURFACE

Pattern matching, lambdas, pipe operator, f-strings, and tensor math sit alongside regex, JSON, HTTP, SDL2, audio, and real concurrency.

TOOLING

The project includes an LSP, formatter, linter, embedded database, and a multi-platform CI matrix.

CONSUMERS

Tidepool’s reinforcement-learning loop, DMG’s emulator cycle, EigenMiniSat’s solver, and dynamics’ observer-rich systems serve as forcing functions.

HOSTING

This site is served by EigenScript, as a single self-contained binary.
